Elisabeth Hasselbeck to guest host CBS Mornings next week

Former View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck will appear as a guest host on CBS Mornings from Monday through Wednesday.

Hasselbeck's stint is part of a series of try-outs for a permanent role on the morning show alongside Gayle King and Nate Burleson. She will avoid segments on hard news or politics and instead focus on topics such as parenting, pop culture and entertainment during Talk of the Table discussions.

The announcement comes after Hasselbeck's earlier roles on The View, where she joined in 2003, and Fox & Friends, which she left in 2015. Her background includes competing on Survivor before entering daytime television.

CBS Mornings has been seeking a new co-host since Tony Dokoupil departed in January to anchor the CBS Evening News.
