Veteran wrestler Eric Young has been granted his release from TNA Wrestling. Reports indicate he is expected to return to WWE in a player-coach role on NXT.
TNA announced the release on Wednesday. Young clarified on X that he had requested it and held a binding contract throughout his time there. He stated he will work where he wants going forward.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer that Young is set for a role similar to Shawn Spears. The plan calls for him to serve as a player-coach in NXT, with a possible start in September.
Young previously worked in WWE from 2016 to 2020 and returned briefly in 2022. He left in 2023 after requesting his release following the return of Vince McMahon and signed an NDA as part of the departure.
The move marks another departure from TNA in recent weeks, alongside talents such as Steve Maclin and Tessa Blanchard.
