An explosion occurred in a multi-family house in Värnamo on Tuesday evening, with no injuries but material damage. Police were alerted shortly after 6 p.m., and the national bomb squad arrived later for investigation. Residents were evacuated while the site was cordoned off.
On Tuesday evening, November 18, 2025, police were alerted to a multi-family house in Värnamo following a loud bang shortly after 6:10 p.m. According to police, the bang occurred in a common indoor area, followed by smoke in the stairwell and damage to windows and a door. No one was injured, but residents were evacuated and confined to their apartments until the technical investigation was complete.
Police spokesperson Angelica Israelsson Silfver described the incident: “It is not entirely clear what exploded. Callers both heard and felt the bang. We assess that it occurred indoors, in a common area.” She added that police were working on multiple fronts: “We are securing the crime scene, knocking on doors, and talking to residents in the area. Technicians are also on their way.” The national bomb squad arrived shortly after 9 p.m. to assist with the technical analysis, having been called in over an hour earlier.
It is too early to say if the explosion was targeted, according to Israelsson Silfver. No one is arrested or suspected at this time. Police have initiated a preliminary investigation classified as public endangerment and violation of the law on flammable and explosive goods. Residents in the area were interviewed, and the operation continued late into the evening without reports of further incidents.
