Families sneak peek at rafts ahead of Uppsala's forsränning

Families in Uppsala got a sneak peek over the weekend at the rafts set to compete in the annual forsränning on Fyrisån. The Ankdagen event took place on Sunday at Ångströmslaboratoriet as part of Valborg celebrations. Project leader Nora Ranefall described a week with around 120 rafts built.

Ankdagen was held in Uppsala on Sunday, an event to spread festive spirit ahead of Valborg to more than just students. At Ångströmslaboratoriet, rafts were on display, featuring themes like a midsommarstång, penguins, and sushi. Families with children visited the site and watched the construction curiously.

Nora Ranefall, project leader for the forsränning, said: "It has been a fantastic week where about 120 rafts have been built together. The challenge is to make the paint last for everyone, but we have helped each other. This year we also got to see an unusually high raft."

Visitor Adam Claesson remarked: "It's most fun when they crash." He picked the penguin raft as his favorite, predicting it will win. "I saw the forsränning on TV last year and it was pretty good."

The forsränning is one of Uppsala's biggest traditions ahead of Valborg on April 30 and takes place on Fyrisån.
