Family of slain activist Thato Molosankwe honours his legacy at funeral

The family of Thato Molosankwe said the social activist continued his work against community ills despite knowing the risks. He was killed last week in Mahikeng and buried on Saturday.

Thato Molosankwe was shot and killed in a hail of bullets at his home in Lomanyaneng Village in Mahikeng last week. His family noted that he had long accepted he could lose his life in the line of his activism.

He received a hero’s farewell on Saturday at the Mmabatho Convention Centre. Scores of mourners attended, including government dignitaries, religious leaders and members of Operation Dudula. Molosankwe was laid to rest in the Heroes Acre at Matlalong Cemetery.

His daughter Kgosigadi Lefakane addressed him at the service. “I hate that the people who took your life took something so precious from us,” she said. “But we serve a just God, and I believe that the people who did this to you will be punished.”
