Finland beat Canada 4-2 in the IIHF World Championship semifinal in Zürich on May 30. The win sends Finland to the final and Canada to the bronze medal game against Norway.
Finland took control after trailing 2-1 following the first period. Patrik Puistola scored first for Finland at 3:30. Robert Thomas and Dylan Holloway replied for Canada to give them the lead. In the second period Aleksander Barkov and Mikael Granlund combined for the tying goal and set up Konsta Helenius for a 3-2 lead that was confirmed after video review by referee Christoffer Holm. Aatu Räty added the fourth goal to secure the result.
