Parris Atkins of the FIU women's basketball team has been awarded Conference USA Player of the Week for the period ending February 22. The senior guard averaged 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in two victories last weekend. This marks her first such honor in two seasons with the Panthers.

Conference USA officials announced on Monday that Parris Atkins, a senior guard from Arkansas playing for FIU, earned Player of the Week honors. Atkins contributed to an undefeated weekend for the Panthers with wins over Delaware and Liberty.

In the first game against Delaware, Atkins recorded her first career double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She also achieved a career-high 10 steals, surpassing her previous record of nine, while adding three assists and one steal, and shooting 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Against Liberty on senior day, Atkins led with 25 points on 50% shooting, including 8-of-9 free throws and 3-of-5 from three-point range. She contributed two rebounds, five assists and three steals in the performance.

This is the first C-USA Player of the Week selection for Atkins in her two seasons with FIU and the fourth such award for the team this season. The Panthers, who have one of the top players in the conference, next face Missouri State on the road on Thursday, February 26, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
