Forbes released this week a list of 144 billionaires born abroad who now reside in the United States.
The ranking titled ‘The richest immigrants in the United States’ includes collective fortunes of 2.2 trillion dollars. These entrepreneurs represent almost 15 percent of all US billionaires and accumulate a quarter of the country’s total wealth.
India leads with 19 immigrant billionaires. Elon Musk, born in South Africa, tops the list, followed by Sergey Brin of Russia and Jensen Huang of Taiwan.
Among the Latin Americans are Abel Avellán of Venezuela in position 41, Pablo Legorreta of Mexico in 50th place and Daniel Lubetzky also of Mexico in 91st. Others include Marcelo Claure of Bolivia and Jorge Pérez of Argentina.
