Gachagua vows DCP will not tolerate undisciplined leaders

Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), promised supporters in Kirinyaga that his party would discipline leaders lacking discipline. He stressed fair candidate selection for the 2027 elections and criticized President William Ruto for attempting to divide the Mt. Kenya region.

Yesterday, Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), returned to Kirinyaga and assured supporters that his party would punish leaders who lack discipline. Speaking at a public rally in Kagumo, Kirinyaga Central County, Gachagua emphasized that the selection of party candidates for Senate, Governor, Women Representative, Member of Parliament, and County Assembly Ward seats would be fair and free for the 2027 General Elections. He stated that DCP would not issue direct tickets to favored candidates.

He added that undisciplined members, particularly those who insult opponents at political meetings, would be expelled. “Those DCP members who insult their opponents at political meetings will be expelled for lacking discipline,” Gachagua said. He clarified that DCP is a disciplined party and violations would be addressed.

Furthermore, Gachagua criticized President William Ruto for trying to divide the Mt. Kenya region for his personal political interests. “President Ruto has decided to divide Mt. Kenya, but we will not allow it,” he said. He claimed he helped Ruto win in the area but was dismissed after Ruto took office. “I once campaigned vigorously for Ruto in Mt. Kenya and he won. After Ruto came to power, he ensured I was fired. Ruto is untrustworthy, and residents should be cautious and reject division,” he added.

DCP Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala urged Mt. Kenya residents to elect Gachagua and oust leaders who attack him. “All leaders from Mt. Kenya who attack Gachagua have no right to lead; they should be rejected,” Malala said. Malala described Gachagua as a major political figure and warned Ruto of an impending major political battle. He also sharply criticized Ruto for attempting to 'buy' ODM instead of compensating Gen Z youth killed during protests against the government.
