Gerry Fitzgerald departs Modo Hockey after one season

Modo Hockey announced on Monday that center Gerry Fitzgerald will not return for the next season. The 32-year-old Canadian played 34 games and recorded 30 points during the past campaign.

The club confirmed the departure in a statement thanking Fitzgerald for his contributions. It noted that he chose to take his sign-off bonus, which prevents any return to Sweden until at least October or November. Fitzgerald previously played for Björklöven, AIK and Västervik. Across 286 games in the league he has accumulated 233 points. According to HockeyNews, the forward is expected to continue his career in another European league.
