Government to raise honorary teacher incentive to Rp400,000 starting 2026

Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti announced an increase in incentives for honorary teachers to Rp400,000 per month starting in 2026, as a gift for National Teacher's Day. The announcement came after the launch of National Teacher's Month 2025 in Jakarta. This year's incentives have been distributed to over 300,000 teachers.

On Friday, Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti launched National Teacher's Month 2025 with the theme “Guru Hebat Indonesia Kuat” in Jakarta. The event aims to strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration to enhance teachers' competencies and welfare.

Following the launch, Minister Abdul Mu'ti announced the raise in incentives for honorary teachers from Rp300,000 to Rp400,000 per month starting 2026. "As part of the National Teacher's Day commemoration, we announce that next year we will raise the incentive for honorary teachers to Rp400,000 per month. Numerically, it's not much, but we have a commitment to gradually improve teachers' welfare over time," he said.

The incentives are provided via direct bank transfers, a new initiative under the Prabowo Subianto administration. For 2025, Rp300,000 monthly incentives were disbursed once for 7 months to 347,383 teachers, totaling Rp736.31 billion with a 95.5% achievement rate. Each teacher received Rp2.1 million.

The increase is expected to motivate honorary teachers to boost their competencies and dedication. "Of course, we are giving encouragement to teachers to continuously improve their competencies, abilities, and spirit of service in providing education," added Minister Abdul Mu'ti.
