Hamilton warns Ferrari deficit could double at Silverstone

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have cautioned that Ferrari faces a significant challenge at the upcoming British Grand Prix and Belgian Grand Prix due to power unit shortcomings.

Hamilton, speaking on Thursday at Silverstone, highlighted a four-tenths of a second deficit to Mercedes in a straight line at the Red Bull Ring. He noted that long straights at Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps will amplify issues with energy management.

"The deficit could be twice as big," Hamilton said, adding that drivers discussed running out of battery power with limited corners to recharge. Leclerc echoed the concern, stating the next two races will be very tough after struggling on race day in Austria.

Hamilton urged the team to maximize points at every opportunity and pointed to the Hungaroring as a circuit where Ferrari might close the gap. He described Mercedes as a phenomenal team and noted Red Bull's recent progress in the championship led by Kimi Antonelli.
