Hans-Michael Weisky, 67, has been elected the new president of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK). The election took place at the state assembly in Deggendorf, where around 400 delegates voted for a four-year term. He succeeds Angelika Schorer, who did not seek re-election.
The election of Hans-Michael Weisky as president of the Bavarian Red Cross signals a leadership transition for the aid organization. The 67-year-old, a member of the BRK district association Traunstein, was chosen by about 400 delegates at the state assembly in Deggendorf for a four-year term. The BRK announced this in a statement.
Following his election, Weisky stated: «The position of BRK president means both honor and a dutiful task for me». He takes over from Angelika Schorer, who did not run for another term. The assembly was opened by Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU).
This decision highlights continuity in the BRK's operations, one of Bavaria's largest aid groups. The assembly occurred recently, as indicated in the announcement.
