Indonesia national team captain Jay Idzes has received direct praise from Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali. He is seen as a key investment who strengthened the team's defense in the 2025/2026 season.
Jay Idzes joined Sassuolo from Venezia at the start of the season. He quickly became a mainstay in defense and featured in 34 matches across all competitions.
CEO Giovanni Carnevali said Idzes's contributions greatly helped the team's backline. Sassuolo recorded eight clean sheets when Idzes started and now sits in 11th place in the Serie A table.
Unfortunately Idzes's strong form was cut short by a heel injury sustained during Sassuolo's 2-0 win over AC Milan in matchweek 35. The injury sidelined him for the rest of the season.
