Jesús Ángel Lavao León faces trial for abusing three girls in Íquira

Prosecutors accuse Jesús Ángel Lavao León, known as ‘Chucho’, of sexually abusing three girls aged 4, 8, and 10 in rural Íquira, Huila. One victim told her father about the abuses, prompting a 2021 complaint. The 40-year-old man is now in oral trial for abusive carnal access and sexual acts with minors.

Fiscal 15 Seccional, attached to the Comprehensive Care Center for Victims of Sexual Violence, filed the accusation document against Jesús Ángel Lavao León. The abuses took place in 2018 in vereda El Quebradón, Valencia de La Paz corregimiento, Íquira municipality. “The gathered evidence is clear to affirm with probability of truth the accused's identity and responsibility,” the prosecutor stated.

The incidents came to light when one girl saw the man abusing the other two in his home and told her father. He filed the complaint on July 8, 2021, before Neiva's Eighth Municipal Penal Court. Forensic interviews with the girls in October 2018 detailed intimate touching, penetration attempts, and threats to keep them silent.

An eight-year-old girl recounted that in September 2018, while playing, Lavao León touched her vagina and breasts over her clothes. A ten-year-old described five incidents in an August week, including undressing and nighttime struggles. The four-year-old reported repeated touching during play visits, always with intimidation.

The prosecutor argues Lavao León harmed the girls' sexual integrity through deliberate, consummated acts. The oral trial proceeds before Neiva's First Circuit Penal Judge.
