Kanye West has announced a March 20 release for his upcoming album Bully through a new partnership with Gamma, following a public apology for past controversial remarks. Kanye West, also known as Ye, has finalized plans to release his album Bully on March 20, 2026, marking his return to traditional distribution channels via a partnership with independent company Gamma, founded by executive Larry Jackson. This will be his first standard studio album rollout in years, following alternative releases like the 2022 Stem Player-exclusive Donda 2 and 2024's Vultures 1 and Vultures 2 with Ty Dolla $ign on his YZY label.
The announcement came shortly after West placed a full-page advertisement in The Wall Street Journal on January 25, apologizing for years of antisemitic and racist remarks. In the ad, funded by YZY, he attributed his behavior to a 2002 car accident that injured his brain's right frontal lobe. "Twenty-five years ago, I was in a car accident that broke my jaw and caused injury to the right frontal lobe of my brain," he wrote. "I’m not asking for sympathy or a free pass, though I aspire to earn your forgiveness. I write today simply to ask for your patience and understanding as I find my way home."
Work on Bully began in 2022, with an early short film version released in March 2025, directed by West and edited by Hype Williams, featuring his son Saint. The project faced repeated postponements—from an initial June 2025 target to July, September, November, and now March 2026—previously set for January 30 before the latest delay.
A press release describes Bully as centered on remorse, memory, ego, faith, and consequence, with West framing it as storytelling rather than public redemption. While anticipated as his first solo full-length since Donda 2's 2025 revised edition, the timing has reignited online speculation about controversy-driven promotion, with fans questioning the apology's sincerity.
