Kenyans access 2025 KJSEA exam results through SMS

Grade nine students who took the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment can now retrieve their results via a short message service. The Ministry of Education has guided parents, teachers, and learners to send assessment numbers to a specific code for details. This step aids the transition to senior secondary schools.

On December 4, 2025, instructions were issued for accessing the results of the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), taken by grade nine learners from October 27 to November 3. These exams evaluate students' readiness for senior secondary education, involving over 1 million participants.

Parents, teachers, and students must send the learner's assessment number to 22263, incurring a fee of Ksh30 per SMS. This service provides comprehensive results, including the student's selected schools aligned with their career preferences.

A notice from a major telecommunications provider stated: "To check a KJSEA learner's selected schools, send their assessment number to 22263. The SMS costs Ksh30."

This follows Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok's November 17 announcement that results would emerge in early December, no later than December 11. Bitok emphasized the ministry's preparations for transitioning the large cohort of examinees.

Although the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has not issued a formal release statement, student placements are anticipated within a week of results availability. Letters will be accessible before December 25, 2025, with reporting to new schools set for January 12, 2026.

The day prior, on December 3, KNEC warned against fraudsters claiming to modify KJSEA and KCSE scores for payment, urging public caution against such scams.
