KNEC releases teacher assessment results ahead of KCSE exams

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released 2025 teacher assessment and examination results, accessible via the CBATE portal for colleges that have paid in full. This announcement comes as over 960,000 students begin the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The results cover various teacher education programs, aligning with Kenya's shift to competency-based education.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) announced the release of teacher assessment and examination results for the year. In a public notice, KNEC stated that colleges can access these results through the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) Teacher Education (CBATE) portal, but only those that have completed full payment are eligible.

"We are pleased to announce that the examination/assessment results for the following programmes have been officially released and are now accessible to the colleges via the CBATE portal," the statement read.

The released results include the Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), Primary Teacher Education (PTE), Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE), and Teacher Certificate in Adult Education (TCAE). Additionally, candidates for the Diploma in Special Needs Education (SNE) parts 1 and 2, Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education (DSTE), Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE), and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) can obtain their results at their colleges.

This release coincides with the commencement of the 2025 KCSE examinations, which over 960,000 candidates are expected to sit for as Kenya phases out the 8-4-4 education system by 2027. The exams begin with oral papers in foreign and sign languages, including German, French, Arabic, Kenyan Sign Language, and Music, running for the whole week starting October 21.

Practical examinations follow from October 22 to October 31, with theory papers scheduled from November 4 to November 21, 2025. On the competency-based education front, the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for Grade 6 students will occur from October 27 to 30, while the Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) for learners with special needs runs from October 27 to 31.
