La Roux backs model in Kanye West assault lawsuit

La Roux has supported a model's allegations that Kanye West choked and gagged her during a 2010 music video shoot. The singer shared messages confirming the incident in a recent court filing. The lawsuit, filed in 2024, details the alleged assault on the set of La Roux's 'In For The Kill' video.

Jennifer An, a finalist on America’s Next Top Model in 2009, sued Kanye West for sexual assault in November 2024 under New York City’s Gender Motivated Violence Protection Act. The incident allegedly occurred in September 2010 on the set of a remix for La Roux’s song “In For The Kill” at Manhattan’s Chelsea Hotel, where An worked as a background actor.

According to the lawsuit, West arrived unannounced, pointed to An, and said, “Give me the Asian girl.” He then reportedly choked her with both hands, smeared her makeup, and rammed several fingers down her throat, moving them in and out to emulate forced oral sex. West allegedly yelled, “This is art. This is fucking art. I am like Picasso.”

West’s lawyers filed a motion to dismiss in January 2026, arguing the conduct was protected expressive art under free-speech rights. On March 10, 2026, An’s attorneys responded with affidavits, including Instagram messages from La Roux (Elly Jackson). Jackson wrote, “I could never forget that, it was horrific,” and added, “I have never seen the footage (thankfully) and obviously I asked for it to never be used or for it to be seen as you were understandably very concerned about anyone or your family seeing it.” She also said, “I’m so sorry it happened,” and explained she had not shared the story publicly due to threats from West about her career.

Makeup artist Liz Martins stated she saw West “forcefully put his fingers down [An’s] mouth and told her to, ‘Suck on them.’” She noted the act was not scripted, and An was crying afterward, saying, “My mom is going to see this. I don’t want my mom to see this.”

Michelle An, unrelated to the plaintiff, affirmed she did not see fingers inside the mouth or choking but observed West moving his thumb across An’s mouth; she did not deny the claims. A private investigation found other crew members recalling West sticking his fingers in An’s mouth.

Attorneys for West and La Roux did not immediately comment. West faces other lawsuits, including one from former assistant Lauren Pisciotta.
