LeBron James' agent Rich Paul said the 41-year-old is not desperate for a fifth championship as he enters free agency. Paul spoke on SportsCenter on Saturday after James informed the Los Angeles Lakers on June 30 that he would not re-sign.
Paul emphasized that James wants to compete at a high level but is not chasing a ring or matching Michael Jordan's six titles. "He's not chasing the ring," Paul said. "You hear these things. Like, why does he have to chase? He got four. There's nothing to chase."
James ended an eight-year stint with the Lakers and is an unrestricted free agent. Paul noted that James can choose any team and will make the best decision for himself. The agent added that no roster is guaranteed to win a championship.
James has been linked to teams including the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers. Paul said James unlocks potential on any of the 30 NBA teams.
