Lego launches new BB-8 Astromech Droid set in 2026

Lego has introduced a new 569-piece BB-8 Astromech Droid building set as part of its January 2026 Star Wars lineup. This marks the first BB-8 model since 2017 and is available now for $90. The set features interactive elements and is designed to scale with other recent droid builds.

Lego kicked off 2026 with several new Star Wars sets, including the return of the popular BB-8 droid from the Sequel Trilogy. The BB-8 Astromech Droid (model No. 75452) consists of 569 pieces and is priced at $90. It can be purchased at retailers such as Amazon, the Lego Store, and others.

This buildable figure measures just over 3 inches tall, smaller than the 2017 version (model No. 75187), which had 1,106 pieces and stood over 10 inches. The new model offers greater detail and aligns in scale with recent droid sets like R2-D2, C-3PO, and Chopper. It includes a display plaque, an information card, and a small BB-8 figure that connects to the stand.

Interactive features bring the droid to life: an openable front hatch reveals a burner arm in the chest cavity, reminiscent of its appearance in The Force Awakens, and the head rotates randomly when the figure is moved across a surface.

The January 2026 lineup also features other sets, such as the AT-AT Walker (525 pieces, $65), Venator-Class Attack Cruiser (643 pieces, $80), and UCS Death Star (9,023 pieces, $1,000). Additional playsets include the Clone Shock Trooper Mech ($15), Cobb Vanth's Speeder ($35), Siege of Mandalore Battle Pack ($23), The Mandalorian & Grogu's Speeder Bike ($10), and Grogu's Homestead ($20). These additions expand Lego's Star Wars catalog with mid-scale display models and battle packs for various ages.
