The pontiff entered the white coliseum on foot around 7:25 p.m. He received a prolonged ovation from the stands before taking a lap of honor in a vehicle and blessing those present. León XIV delivered a speech lasting about fifteen minutes. 'The Church of Madrid has scored a goal for ever,' he declared. He also urged cultivating diversity: 'Flee from people who always sing the same melody'. The event included processions of Jesús de Medinaceli and the Virgen de la Almudena, musical performances and testimonies from the faithful. Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, Madrid regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso and mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida were present. Madrid archbishop José Cobo had anticipated the tone of the gathering by asking that the life of the Church sound like the Gospel.
