The Tampa Bay Lightning and Syracuse Crunch have extended their affiliation for four more years. The deal ensures Lightning prospects will continue developing in Syracuse until the end of the 2029-30 season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning and Syracuse Crunch announced the four-year extension this week. The partnership, which began in 2012, has already produced 104 shared players including Andrei Vasilevskiy, Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point.
Jon Cooper, who earned the Jack Adams Award as NHL coach of the year in 2025-26, started his rise with the Lightning organization after being promoted from Syracuse in 2013. The Crunch have reached the Calder Cup Finals twice during the affiliation.
Tampa Bay captured Stanley Cup titles in 2020 and 2021. Over 14 seasons the Crunch hold a 520-331-81-58 record and have reached the playoffs in all but two campaigns. The teams share the NHL-AHL's longest active streak of postseason appearances at eight.
