In the latest development in the legal battle between Amyl and the Sniffers frontwoman Amy Taylor and photographer Jamie Nelson over the 'Champagne Problems' photoshoot, a Los Angeles court rejected Nelson's civil harassment restraining order petition against Taylor. The core copyright disputes will continue in federal court.
This follows Taylor's December 2025 lawsuit against Nelson, who allegedly sold images from the May 2025 Vogue Portugal shoot as fine art prints without permission, despite explicit rejections from Taylor's team.
Nelson's December petition in Los Angeles Superior Court claimed a third party linked to Taylor shared an image without permission, prompting cease-and-desist notices. Taylor had countersued over the print sales.
The court denied the restraining order, allowing matters to proceed on the record. "I am grateful that the court reviewed the evidence and provided the opportunity for the matter to be addressed on the record," Nelson told Rolling Stone AU/NZ. "I am proud to have stood up for myself and for artists who may face similar situations."
Federal proceedings continue, with a March 19 hearing on an anti-SLAPP motion against Taylor and a motion for judgment on the pleadings. "I will continue defending my work and pursuing my rights," Nelson added.
