The event will act as a qualifying competition for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Madbouly described sports development as a national priority and said the government would supply all needed resources, drawing on Egypt's established infrastructure and experience with major events.
Nabil outlined organisational measures and coordination efforts with African sports bodies. He noted Egypt's support for expanding the range of sports in Olympic qualification events to give more African athletes a chance to compete in Los Angeles. The minister also detailed plans for national teams, including training camps and performance programmes ahead of both the African Games and the Olympics.
Egypt's recent performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup was cited as momentum to build upon. Officials aim to ensure strong results that reflect the country's position in international sport while delivering a successful edition of the African Games.
