Maya World captures TBS Championship at AEW Redemption

Maya World defeated Hikaru Shida to win the TBS Championship at the AEW Redemption pay-per-view event in Montreal. The victory occurred on World’s birthday during the inaugural event ahead of All In London.

AEW confirmed the title change in official posts on the night of the show. World, known as the It Girl, became the new champion after an incredible match against Shida.

The win marks World’s first championship in All Elite Wrestling. She had built momentum from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at last month’s Forbidden Door event.

AEW promoted the pay-per-view as available live on HBO Max PPV. The company also highlighted World’s birthday in a separate post following the match.

Ok look, I love Maya but her beating Shida was the wrong call if you ask me. It kinda comes off as AEW trying to force Maya World on the audience. It was an easy layup to do Shida vs Statlander for the TBS Title at Wembley, and Athena vs Maya for the ROH Title
