Mbadi tells Winnie Odinga she lacks capacity to advise on treasury

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has responded sharply to criticism from East African Legislative Assembly MP Winnie Odinga, saying she has no capacity to advise him on his role.

Mbadi made the remarks while addressing a crowd in Homa Bay on Saturday. He defended his experience, noting he had served as ODM chairman for ten years, minority leader for five years and treasury cabinet secretary for two years.

“You can’t because you have no capacity to advise me,” Mbadi said. He added that leadership must be earned through elective positions and public service.

Winnie Odinga had criticised Mbadi a day earlier, stating that the National Treasury should not be used as a political platform. Mbadi also said he is ready to seek higher office, including the presidency after President William Ruto completes his term.
