In the first half of 2026, 754,394 light vehicles were sold in Mexico, surpassing the level reached in 2017.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography reported that sales grew 5.3 percent compared to 716,299 units in the same period of 2025.
Guillermo Rosales Zárate, executive president of the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors, noted that the January to June 2026 volume exceeded by 1.3 percent the 745,004 units sold in 2017.
In June, 126,778 vehicles were sold, an increase of 7.6 percent from the same month last year. Nissan led the market with 16.8 percent share, followed by General Motors with 12.9 percent and the Volkswagen Group with 11 percent.
