The project, scripted by Syam Pushkaran and produced under Aashirvad Cinemas, is set to begin filming by mid-2024. This marks a significant pairing long anticipated by fans.
In a notable development for the Malayalam film industry, superstar Mohanlal has joined forces with director Dileesh Pothan, known for his realistic narratives in films like Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, and Joji. This will be Pothan's first venture directing a full-fledged film centered on a major star, a collaboration that industry observers have awaited for over a decade.
The untitled project comes from a script by Syam Pushkaran and is backed by producer Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas banner. Described by sources as an action-fantasy drama, production is slated to commence by mid-2024, with an official announcement expected shortly.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal's schedule remains busy. He recently wrapped up cameo roles in Kathanar and Khalifa, followed by a private trip to Sydney. Upon returning, he will start work on director Tharun Murthy's film on January 23 in Thodupuzha, where Meera Jasmine takes the female lead alongside actors Bhama, Binu Pappu, and Ishad. That project, produced by Ashiq Usman under Ashiq Usman Productions, features a script by Ratheesh Ravi and cinematography by Shaji Kumar. A script pooja ceremony occurred at the Vaikom Mahadeva Temple on Friday.
