MOUSE: P.I. For Hire soundtrack now available for streaming

The soundtrack for the recently released game MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has launched on streaming platforms ahead of a vinyl edition. Composed by Patryk Scelina with contributions from Caravan Palace, the score captures the game's 1930s-inspired jazz and noir atmosphere. A vinyl pressing will ship in June.

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, developed by Fumi Games, follows private investigator Jack Pepper in a guns-blazing adventure blending hand-drawn rubber hose animation from 1930s cartoons with first-person shooter action. The game launched on April 16 and has earned an overwhelmingly positive rating from users on Steam. Fans have praised its narrative, comparing it to a mix of Doom and detective noir, or Max Payne and Cuphead, highlighting the graphics, story, and gameplay integration. This game is a perfect example of what a great story should be. Its narrative blends seamlessly with the shooter gameplay—half the time it feels like Doom, and the other half like a detective noir experience. That contrast is exactly what makes it so compelling. Max Payne meets Cuphead. Great game, incredible graphics, incredible story, incredible overall. The soundtrack, now streaming, features 19 original tracks by Scelina rooted in big band swing but infused with film-noir elements suited to the crime and investigation theme. Scelina shared his excitement on Bandcamp: I’m absolutely thrilled to share this score with you. Working on MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has been quite a wild ride. It is so rare to have the chance to work on a project that feels completely different from anything else. The game’s setting gave me the opportunity to explore a wide stylistic range in the music. At its core, the score is rooted in big band swing, but there is much more beneath the surface. First and foremost, this is a crime and investigation story, so I approached the music like an old film-noir detective tale. Mondo will release the soundtrack on vinyl, including Caravan Palace’s track Good Mouse, with shipping set for June. Pre-orders are available now.
