Murkomen confirms arrests after Cathedral goons attack

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has confirmed arrests after suspected goons attacked a meeting at All Saints Cathedral on June 12. CCTV footage is being used to identify more suspects.

Murkomen made the remarks during a church service in Nairobi on Sunday. He described the incident as extremely unfortunate and unacceptable. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is analysing CCTV footage and has already arrested one suspect with more being tracked.

The attack unfolded in two waves on Friday morning. A first group on motorbikes was repelled by police around 9:39 am. The group returned on foot at 10:11 am, disrupted a post-budget civil society meeting and robbed attendees.

Murkomen vowed all those responsible would be held accountable regardless of affiliation. He linked the incident to a broader operation against urban gangs and expressed confidence in the new Nairobi Metropolitan Police unit.
