Sports Minister Natalia Duco visited the facilities of the National Anti-Doping Control Commission (CNCD) to learn about its operations and build alliances. The meeting aims to coordinate efforts between the Mindep and the agency on sports matters. Duco, who faced a doping sanction in 2019, now heads the ministry under President José Antonio Kast's government.
Sports Minister Natalia Duco visited the premises of the National Anti-Doping Control Commission (CNCD). She led a meeting there to familiarize herself with its operational processes, tour the facilities, and greet the staff.
The Ministry of Sport (Mindep)'s official Instagram account stated that the purpose is to "generate alliances and work in a coordinated manner on the matters pertaining to both institutions".
Duco took office on March 11, appointed by President-elect José Antonio Kast. Her appointment drew questions due to her history: in February 2019, she received a three-year suspension for testing positive for GHRP-6, a growth hormone stimulant, which cost her the Chilean record of 19.02 meters in shot put.
After serving the ban, she returned to competition with a silver at the Valledupar Bolivarian Games, gold at the Asunción South American Games, participation in the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games, and the Paris Olympics, where she ended her athletic career. Earlier, she studied psychology, competed on MasterChef, and served as ambassador for the School Sports Games in 2024 and 2025, work praised by Israel Castro, former IND director: “Her work was excellent. I saw firsthand her good connection with people and how she inspires with her example”.
Despite controversies over her doping past, her deep knowledge of the sports system contributed to her appointment.
