Netflix has announced an April 30 premiere for its upcoming action-drama series 'Man on Fire,' starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as John Creasy. The streamer released the first trailer, offering a glimpse into the story of a former Special Forces mercenary battling PTSD. The seven-episode season adapts A.J. Quinnell's book series.
Netflix's 'Man on Fire' follows John Creasy, portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, a once high-functioning Special Forces mercenary known for surviving extreme situations. Now afflicted with intense PTSD, Creasy seeks redemption but soon returns to intense action. The logline states: “Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.”
The series is based on A.J. Quinnell's 'Man on Fire' and 'The Perfect Kill,' the first two books in his five-book series. It marks an adaptation following previous films: a 2004 version starring Denzel Washington and a 1987 Italian film. The cast includes Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Paul Ben-Victor.
Kyle Killen serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, with credits including 'Halo,' 'Awake,' and 'Lone Star.' Executive producers are Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann for New Regency Productions; Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Tracey Cook for Chernin Entertainment; Killen and Scott Pennington for Chapter Eleven; and Stacy Perskie for RedRum. Steven Caple Jr., known for 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' and 'Creed II,' directs the first two episodes and executive produces, alongside Ed McDonnell, Michael Polaire, and Abdul-Mateen II.
