Nintendo to shut down Mario Kart Tour on September 30

Nintendo will end service for its mobile game Mario Kart Tour on September 30. The seven-year-old title will close without an offline version.

Service for Mario Kart Tour ends on September 29 at 11:00 p.m. PT, or September 30 at 2 a.m. ET and 8 a.m. CEST. The company said the game will be gone for good after that date.

Nintendo stopped selling the game's digital currency and ended auto-renewals for the Gold Pass subscription. Existing paid subscribers will keep access to most Gold Pass features until shutdown, while all players can use those benefits for free starting August 5.

The game had been in maintenance mode since late 2023 with no new content added. Nintendo continues to support other mobile titles including Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes.
