Police in the North West province are investigating the murder of off-duty Constable Boikanyo Molale, aged 30, whose body was discovered in the early hours of Saturday at Thokoza Section in Ganyesa, outside Vryburg.

Molale, attached to Ganyesa Visible Policing, was allegedly assaulted by an unconfirmed number of suspects and declared dead at the scene. Spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone stated: “Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 30-year-old Molale... was allegedly assaulted by an unconfirmed number of suspects. The member was declared dead at the scene and thus far, two suspects, aged 22 and 27, have been arrested in connection with the murder.”

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon. Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo expressed sadness over the incident, noting in a statement: “The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, is saddened by the murder of off-duty Constable Boikanyo Molale (30), whose body was found at Thokoza Section, Ganyesa. Two suspects aged 22 & 27, have been arrested.”

Mokgwabone added that the motive is unclear at this stage. Naidoo has instructed the investigation team to track and arrest any remaining suspects, emphasizing they will face the full might of the law. This case highlights ongoing challenges faced by police officers, even off-duty.
