Fortuna Sittard announced the signing of Indonesia national team striker Ole Romeny from Oxford United on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
Romeny joins on a one-season loan with an option for a permanent purchase. He will wear the number 10 shirt and is reunited with fellow Indonesia international Justin Hubner at the Eredivisie club.
Joris Mathijsen, Fortuna Sittard technical director, said the club had targeted Romeny for some time. "Ole is an attacking addition that I know well from previous cooperation," he said. The transfer was delayed by work permit processing.
Romeny expressed confidence. "Happy to be here, let's work," he said. Teammates from the Indonesia national team such as Marselino Ferdinan and Jay Idzes posted supportive messages on social media.
The announcement triggered thousands of comments from Indonesia national team supporters on the club's Instagram account. Many said they would now support Fortuna Sittard next season.
