A man in his late teens has been shot dead in Fornhöjden, Södertälje. Another man in his early twenties was lightly injured in the incident near a car. Police are investigating it as murder and attempted murder following an alert at 9:23 p.m. on Friday evening.
The incident occurred late Friday evening on October 24, 2025, in the Fornhöjden residential area of Södertälje. An alert about gunfire reached police at 9:23 p.m. Several witnesses heard shots, and when patrols arrived, they found two men shot near a car.
One of the injured, a man in his late teens, later died from his wounds. Relatives have been notified. The other victim, a man in his early twenties, was taken to hospital by ambulance. His condition is not life-threatening, according to police.
Police launched a major operation with multiple patrols immediately. A cordoned area was set up around the crime scene for technical examination and evidence collection. Witnesses are being interviewed, and a hunt for suspected perpetrators is underway. Roadblocks were established in the Stockholm area to aid the search.
"There is no one arrested right now," says Nadya Norton, police spokesperson, around 2:00 a.m.
"It is a larger operation and we need to do evidence securing and other things at the crime scene," she adds.
Technicians remained on site into the early hours. The motive remains unclear.
"The investigation will show," Norton says.
The preliminary investigation concerns murder and attempted murder. No arrests have been reported during the night into Saturday.
