Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth received an honorable mention in ESPN's latest positional rankings for the position. The nod came after a 2025 season in which he recorded 41 receptions for 486 yards and four touchdowns.
ESPN compiled the rankings by polling NFL executives, coaches and scouts. Freiermuth joined Buffalo’s Dalton Kincaid, Chicago’s Cole Kmet, Dallas’ Jake Ferguson and Cleveland’s Harold Fannin Jr. in the honorable mention group.
One AFC executive said of Freiermuth: “He doesn’t belong in the top tier, but he’s a playmaker. When they’ve targeted him, he usually produces. But he doesn’t seem to ever be a focal point for that offense.”
Freiermuth saw reduced snaps in 2025 after veteran Jonnu Smith joined the team via trade. Smith was released after the season. The Steelers now have Mike McCarthy as head coach and a long-term commitment to Darnell Washington at the position.
Freiermuth is expected to have a full offseason to work with quarterback Aaron Rodgers ahead of the 2026 campaign.
