Two personal assistants in their 40s are charged with defrauding several million kronor in assistance compensation and with gross assault against a man with disabilities in Uppsala.
The crimes are alleged to have taken place between 2020 and 2025. The suspects were arrested in June 2025 and detained for three months before being released.
Prosecutor Victoria Engelkes states that they cheated Försäkringskassan out of assistance compensation and seized the man's income. She argues that the man was in life-threatening danger and that the pair showed particular recklessness.
Uppsala District Court has decided to freeze over four million kronor of the suspects' assets. Both deny the charges.
