Pete Buttigieg family subject to false CPS investigation

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and his husband faced a Child Protective Services investigation after an anonymous false report about their four-year-old twins.

Buttigieg detailed the incident in a Substack post on Friday. Police and a CPS worker visited the family's home in Traverse City, Michigan, following an anonymous tip alleging the children were at risk.

The twins underwent forensic interviews without family present. They stayed with grandparents for 24 hours while the probe continued.

Michigan State Police confirmed the report was false after investigation this week. Spokesperson Shanon Banner said false reports divert resources from real emergencies.

Buttigieg described the separation as among the darkest hours of his life and noted it occurred during Pride Month. He said he may pursue charges against the person who filed the report.
