Pharrell and adidas revive Virginia Watermoc as Starfish

Pharrell Williams and adidas have unveiled a modern take on a 1997 shoe model called the Virginia Watermoc “Starfish.” The design debuted during Paris Fashion Week and is scheduled for release later this year.

The collaboration updates the original adidas Equipment Watermoc, first released in 1997 for water-based activities. It incorporates a technical upper and low-profile rubber outsole while adding a new midfoot strap that wraps across the foot and fastens with an elastic cord.

The silhouette also draws from the mid-2000s Carnuba Adventure Moc for its grooved midsole and rugged tread. Five monochromatic colorways have been shown so far in red, yellow, blue, green, and black.

A release is expected in September at a suggested retail price of $220, though no exact date has been confirmed.
