On Friday, December 12, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto directly surveyed the impacts of flash floods and landslides in several Aceh districts, including Aceh Tamiang, Bener Meriah, and Aceh Tengah. In Aceh Tamiang, he inspected piles of large logs carried by the flood into residential areas near the Aceh Tamiang Bridge, accompanied by Regent Armia Fahmi and Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf. Prabowo also visited a health post to ensure medical services for victims.
At SMPN 2 Wih Pesam in Bener Meriah Regency, Prabowo met 1,161 evacuees. He greeted them one by one, including enthusiastic children shaking hands. "We came to see the real situation, to see the conditions of mothers and fathers, and to see what we can do to send aid faster," he said. Prabowo promised repairs to bridges, landslide-affected roads, and electricity, along with deploying dozens of helicopters and planes for assistance. He apologized for limitations and emphasized, "Don't worry, fathers and mothers are not alone; we will be together."
At Masjid Besar Al-Abrar in Central Aceh Regency, residents like Ibu Raodah voiced complaints about shortages of clean water, electricity, telecommunications signals, and temporary housing. "We really need logistics here, Sir. We really need them. Shortages of clean water, electricity, up to Telkomsel, Sir," she said. Prabowo responded with promises of temporary and permanent housing, though it would take time. "We will definitely help, yes. Just stay calm," he assured, asking for patience.
In Takengon, Prabowo expressed empathy: "The situation is indeed quite difficult and concerning, but believe that you are not alone." He stressed environmental protection, "We must protect our environment; we must not cut down trees indiscriminately." This visit was part of the government's evaluation for effective recovery in Sumatra.
