President José Antonio Kast held meetings on Wednesday with the high commands of Chile's Armed Forces. He first visited the Edificio Bicentenario del Ejército, where he was received by Army commander-in-chief General Pedro Varela. There, he praised the personnel's work in the southern zone and northern border. Defense Minister Fernando Barros stated: “The Chilean Army is a source of pride for all. As a ministry, our role is to facilitate support for the Armed Forces' requirements and training opportunities for their personnel.”Strategic matters related to national security, institutional strengthening, and the Army's current role were discussed.Later, he met with Navy commander-in-chief Admiral Fernando Cabrera Salazar, as part of visits to military branches requested by the President. Afterward, at La Moneda Palace, Kast said: “It has been very interesting; I believe we still have much to contribute as a government institution to the different branches of the Armed Forces.” He added that the requirements of each military institution were reviewed and mentioned preparations for the Month of the Sea, Army Glories Day, and Air Force anniversary.A meeting with Air Force General del Aire Hugo Rodríguez is expected on Thursday. These encounters aim to reinforce joint work and advance defense policies suited to the country's challenges.
