Red Velvet is preparing to drop their first full group mini album in over two years, serving up a mature summer sound with the title track Surfin’ Boy.
Red Velvet will release the five-track mini album Velvet Summer on August 3 at 6 p.m. KST, according to a source close to the agency. The project marks their first full group effort since Cosmic in June 2024 and features the lead single Surfin’ Boy, a dance track blending languid bossa nova guitar, relaxed reggae rhythms, and sophisticated house grooves.
Joy wrote the lyrics solo for both Surfin’ Boy and the track Hawaii, while longtime collaborators including producer KENZIE contributed to Hot Girls Cold Vibe. The album explores a range of genres from bossa nova to acoustic.
Fans can catch the group first at the 2026 Red Velvet FAN-CON running through August 2 at Korean University Hwajeong Gymnasium in Seoul, where the Surfin’ Boy stage will debut. A countdown live broadcast is set for August 3 on YouTube and TikTok.
