Ruto donates Ksh50 million for ADC church construction in Vihiga County

President William Ruto has donated Ksh50 million to the African Divine Church for building its headquarters in Vihiga County. Speaking at a church service on November 2, 2025, he said the funds were sent last week and promised additional contributions from leaders like Musalia Mudavadi. He also donated a new vehicle to the church's bishop and aid to a family unable to bury a member for six years.

During a church service on November 2, 2025, President William Ruto announced his Ksh50 million donation to the African Divine Church (ADC) for constructing its headquarters in Vihiga County. He stated that the funds were sent last week to supplement the Ksh20 million raised by church members, aiming to complete the Ksh80 million project. According to Ruto, church clergy have informed him that the new facility will include conference halls, offices, and other amenities.

Ruto assured that Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and other local leaders will contribute the remaining Ksh10 million to ensure timely completion. He added that he will personally attend the opening once the church is built. "When I was here, you told me that you wanted to build a cathedral, which would be your headquarters. At that time, we were told that it was going to be a small church, so we gave out three million first, but you said that you wanted a bigger church," Ruto said.

"Your clergy came to my office and told me that the Ksh3 million we had given was not enough, so you wanted an additional Ksh50 million for it to be Ksh80 million, and I agreed. And last week I sent Ksh50 million," he added. Ruto explained that the move was motivated by his close relationship with the church and its clergy, who have supported him and his administration since he took office.

At the same service, Ruto donated a brand new vehicle for use by ADC's bishop in his ministry. "As you all know, this church and the clergy of this church are very good friends of mine. It is not my first time being in this church. I have always been with you, and you have always been there for me, especially when I needed friends," Ruto said.

Additionally, Ruto donated Ksh2 million to the family of a congregant from the PAG church who has remained unburied for six years due to land issues. "I have just been told that there is a congregant from PAG that has been in the mortuary for six years, so I will give them two million so that land may be bought and that he may be buried. And it is not okay to keep quiet in such matters because families are suffering," he said.
