Pedro Alberto Kreder, 79, and Juana Inés Morales, 69, were last seen on October 11, 2025, around 9:30 a.m., leaving Kreder's house near Routes 3 and 39 in Chubut, heading to Camarones. A security camera captured their beige Toyota Hilux at 9:50 a.m. on Route 1 near Caleta Córdova. The truck was found abandoned in a ditch in the Cañadón Visser and Rocas Coloradas area, north of Comodoro Rivadavia.
On October 24, search dogs found footprints 13 kilometers from the site, apparently belonging to a man and a woman, directing the search toward Route 3. The operation, started early that Wednesday from the Training Center, involves firefighters, police, brigadists, thermal-camera drones, helicopters, and volunteers, covering up to 50 kilometers, including Pampa de Salamanca.
Prosecutor Cristian Olazábal, who flew over the area, told Telenoche: “I don't think they're alive,” based on common sense, though he holds out hope. Hypotheses include an accident where the truck got stuck in mud, disorientation in the inhospitable terrain with foxes and pumas, or a robbery attempt reported anonymously via line 134, which may have diverted them onto Provincial Route 1. A witness saw two 'disoriented' men in a similar truck at a Caleta Córdova landfill that morning, and another claimed unknowns were driving it 'lost'.
Baqueano expert Martín Pérez highlighted natural sinkholes in the area, fragile traps of clay and silt that could cause falls. A local volunteer described the terrain as 'impossible' to traverse without permission, suggesting horseback searches. Morales' daughter Aldana told Mediodía Noticias: “Everything is very strange and uncertain... I don't know what to believe anymore.” Kreder's daughters doubt he drove to the site and urge forensic analysis of the truck for signs of forced stops.
