Segelu urges Oyo youth to support Makinde's vision and embrace dialogue

A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in Oyo State, Chief Olayinka Segelu, has called on youths to engage constructively with the government instead of turning to frustration or division. He commended Governor Seyi Makinde's efforts in key sectors and emphasized the importance of unity and dialogue for state development.

Chief Olayinka Segelu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and governorship hopeful in Oyo State, issued a statement titled “A Message to the Youths of Oyo State” on October 26, 2025. In it, he acknowledged the governance concerns and frustrations expressed by youths, noting that leadership involves difficult and unseen challenges.

Segelu praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his work in infrastructure, education, workers’ welfare, and rural development. He stressed that while no administration can achieve perfection immediately, Makinde has demonstrated a willingness to listen and adjust. “I have heard the concerns, frustrations, and honest feelings expressed by our youths, and I understand them. But let us also remember something important: Governor Seyi Makinde is human, just like every one of us,” Segelu said.

He urged the youths to prioritize unity and dialogue over division, describing these as effective tools for creating opportunities and fostering sustainable development across Oyo State's 33 local government areas. “This is our time to build bridges, not burn them,” he stated. “Let’s channel our energy toward unity, innovation, and positive engagement.”

Segelu expressed optimism that enhanced collaboration between youths and leaders would speed up progress in zones including Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Oyo, and Ibarapa. He also encouraged continued commitment to the PDP and support for Makinde’s vision of a prosperous state, arguing that collective effort, rather than internal conflict, is key to achieving desired outcomes. “Together, we can move from frustration to fulfillment, not by fighting our own, but by standing united for progress,” he added.
