Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson are preparing to compete for the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback role ahead of the September 13 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sanders spoke at a youth football camp in Brooklyn, Ohio, this week about the competition. He emphasized mutual respect in the quarterback room and a focus on daily improvement rather than external pressures.
"We're both trying to be the best version of ourselves we could be," Sanders said. "It's a level of respect that we all in the quarterback room have for each other."
The two quarterbacks recently co-hosted a passing camp in Miami. Sanders noted that the off-field time helped build stronger bonds among teammates.
Training camp is set to begin July 28 in Berea, Ohio. Watson, who missed the entire 2025 season due to Achilles injuries, holds a five-year, $230 million contract and is seeking to regain the starting position.
