Skelton brothers set for Burghley Horse Trials masterclass

Dan and Harry Skelton will present a joint masterclass on the opening day of Defender Burghley Horse Trials in September. The session will take place in the main arena during Thursday’s lunch break.

The brothers, both prominent figures in National Hunt racing, will demonstrate techniques drawn from other equestrian disciplines. Racing broadcasters Nick Luck and Alice Fox-Pitt will host the event, which concludes with a question-and-answer session.

Horses for the demonstration will come from the Thoroughbred Aftercare Programme, established in 2024 to support riders with former racehorses. Dan Skelton said the pair are looking forward to showing how cross-discipline methods aid racehorse development.

Defender Burghley Horse Trials director Martyn Johnson welcomed the addition, noting the Skelton family’s broad equestrian achievements. Additional masterclasses featuring Clayton Fredericks, Carl Hester and the Howden Way Young Horse Academy are also scheduled during the 3 to 6 September event.
