Snowed in comedy tour returns to Sudbury with new TV series

Canada's Snowed In Comedy Tour, now in its 17th year, is set to perform in Sudbury on March 20. The event features four acclaimed comedians and coincides with the premiere of a new TV series on CHEK TV and YouTube. The show highlights the tour's tradition of blending stand-up with local experiences across the country.

The Snowed In Comedy Tour, described by organizers as a nationwide phenomenon that plays to packed houses in 70 cities, began as a winter idea and has become an annual institution. This year's stop in Sudbury takes place at the Fraser Auditorium on March 20, starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through www.showpass.com/snowed-in-comedy-tour-11.

The lineup consists of tour founder Dan Quinn, winner of the Canadian Comedy Competition at Just for Laughs; Paul Myrehaug, victor of the $25,000 Great Canadian Laugh Off; Pete Zedlacher, SiriusXM Radio's Top Comic and a six-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee; and Erica Sigurdson, a frequent performer on CBC's The Debaters with over 70 appearances.

A new development for the tour is its TV series, which premiered on CHEK TV and YouTube in the fall. The series includes five episodes focused on stops in British Columbia cities: Smithers, Courtenay, Whistler, Nelson, and Revelstoke. These episodes capture the comedians engaging in local activities, such as snowmobiling, golfing, bobsledding, and snowboarding, alongside behind-the-scenes moments. Additional episodes feature individual stand-up specials: Erica Sigurdson on topics like dry January and true crime; Dan Quinn on parenting and ADHD; Pete Zedlacher on marriage and Canadian pride; and Paul Myrehaug on catcalling and scuba diving mishaps.

Organizers note that the tour distinguishes itself from larger U.S. productions by allowing comedians to connect genuinely with each location and its attractions. For more on the series, visit tinyurl.com/3wpekwv4.
